Independent Non-Executive Chair

Michael is an experienced corporate finance executive and consultant. Michael was appointed on 13 November 2018. His early Ernst & Young career was focused on auditing clients within the oil and gas sectors and later added mining to his portfolio. Michael also led Ernst & Young’s UK IPO and Global Natural Resources transaction teams in the Transaction Advisory practice. He has been involved advising companies  on fundraising, re-organisations, transactions, corporate governance as well as IPOs.

Michael is a former Chair of the Bureau and current member of UNECE’s Expert Group on Resource Measurement and a non-executive Director of Barloworld Limited (JSE:BAW), Senior Independent Director and Remuneration Committee Chair of Gem Diamonds Limited (LSE:GEMD), Audit Committee Chair of Lenta Limited (LSE:LNTA) (MCX:LNTA) and Deputy Chair and Nomination Committee Chair of Kaz Minerals plc (LSE:KAZ.

Neale Fong

Independent Non-executive Director

Neale is a registered medical practitioner with over 35 years in senior leadership roles in private hospitals, the public health systems, management consulting, academia, health research, aged care and not for profit organisations. He is currently Chair of the Western Australian Government Country Health Service Board, Professor of Healthcare Leadership at Curtin University, Executive Chairman of Bethesda Health Care and a Director of a number of health-related start-up companies.

He is an experienced ASX company Director including a former Non-Executive Director of Neurotech International Limited (ASX:NTI) and executive chair of Chrysalis Resources Limited (ASX:CYS) and has been a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors for 17 years. He was formerly Director General of the Western Australian Department of Health and CEO of St John of God Hospital in Perth.

Neale was awarded the Centenary Medal in 2011 for services to healthcare by the Australian Government.

Fleta Solomon

Managing Director

Fleta drives the strategic vision of the business and as Managing Director of Little Green Pharma has grown the company from a medicinal cannabis startup to an industry-leading medicinal cannabis brand in Australia.

Fleta has 17 years’ experience in corporate and consumer health markets. Over ten years, Fleta established, grew and sold one of Australia’s largest providers of workplace health services. She has since been involved in several start-ups including a water treatment technology business and a digital health engagement company based in Singapore. Fleta is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD), holds a Bachelor of Science degree and an MBA from the University of Western Australia.

Angus Caithness

Executive Director

Angus is an experienced corporate finance executive and consultant in Australia and international markets. Angus has ASX experience as a Non-Executive Director of Lindian Resources Limited (ASX:LIN), CFO of Hunnu Coal (ASX:HUN) and Company Secretary for the IPO of Haranga Resources (ASX:HAR).

Following these roles, Angus acted as CFO of Erdenes Tavan Tolgoi, the owner of the world’s largest coking coal deposit. Angus was previously an Executive Director at EY in London and Australia specialising in initial public offerings of large cap mining companies. Angus is a Harvard Business School alumnus, a Chartered Accountant, a fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia and is currently completing a Master of Science.

Dr Joe is a regular on TV and radio, writes for medical and mainstream publications, as well as maintaining a website and blog providing health information. Dr Joe held senior positions in the Australian Medical Association and sat on numerous industry and government boards. He has extensive corporate experience in the setting up and management of medical centres.

Barry Thompson

Barry obtained his Chemistry degree from the Auckland University of Technology and has over 30 years of Pharmaceutical experience. He came to live in Perth in 1987 and started as an R&D Chemist at Delta West. Moved to the QC Department and after some years as Laboratory Supervisor, became the QC Manager. Delta West was purchased firstly by Pharmacia, Upjohn and finally Pfizer.

He left employment with Pfizer and started at Princess Margaret Hospital, Pharmacy Department in the QC Manufacturing Department. Barry and his business partner started their current Pharmaceutical business in 1997 and have a Therapeutic Goods Administration Licence to produce scheduled pharmaceutical products. Obtained an ODC Licence and Permit to Manufacture Medical Cannabis finished products for LG Pharma in 2017.

Prof Neil Foster

Professor Neil Foster is a Research Professor at the WA School of Mines. His specialisation is in Chemical Engineering, with a focus on the development of novel drug delivery systems and also on the processing of biomedical materials.

One of his most significant inventions arose from a collaborative study with Professor Robert Langer, when they developed technology for the sterilisation of materials that are used as scaffolds for human implants. Currently Professor Foster is working on the development of more efficient methods to deliver therapeutic drugs for the treatment of colorectal cancer, irritable bowel diseases, tuberculosis, lung cancer, and cystic fibrosis.

He has co-authored more than 350 papers in books, international journals, and conference proceedings. He is also a named inventor on 14 patents. His achievements have also been recognised by the Congress of the People’s Republic of China with the award in 2010 of a Qian Ren ‘1000 Talents’ Professorship and, in 2014, he was elected a member of the European Academy of Science and Arts.

During his 32 years in academia, Professor Foster has raised in excess of $20 million from industry, university and government sources, both domestically and internationally. His primary driver in research is to undertake strategic research and development with the ultimate goal of translating ideas through to commercialisation.

Bhavesh Morar

Chief Financial Officer

Bhavesh has extensive experience in finance, commercial, business turnarounds and change management. Prior to LGP, Bhavesh held senior finance roles with BHP for 11 years in their nickel business and global functions. He was previously a Partner at Deloitte in Sydney and National Leader of their mining practice, where he provided a broad range of assurance and advisory services to ASX listed and multi-national corporations as well as acting as their statutory financial auditor. Bhavesh is a Chartered Accountant, holds a Bachelor of Economics from Macquarie University and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Paul Long

Chief Operating Officer

Paul is a key executive driver of the Australian operational team at LGP as well as leading the export growth opportunities into Germany, United Kingdom, Canada and New Zealand. Paul has a successful track record across multiple health related organisations in Australia. Paul founded one of Australia’s largest workplace health companies in 2004 which he subsequently sold to Sanitarium in 2012 and where he stayed on as Managing Director until 2014. He also co-founded WellteQ, where he is currently Non-Executive Director, and more recently co-founded WLTH. Paul holds a Bachelor of Health Science.

Rob Benkovic

Rob has over 24 years of experience in engineering and management and is an Australian Institute of Management WA Alumni. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering Degree from the University of New South Wales and has previously been managing teams in the petroleum industry for over 10 years. Rob has skills that span technical management and project management in operational and commercial domains. 

Alistair Warren

Alistair has over 13 years’ experience as a legal advisor, primarily as in-house counsel with BHP in Singapore, Chile and Perth and as a solicitor with Freehills (now Herbert Smith Freehills). He has worked across various sectors, including energy & petroleum, international commodities trading, resource exploration and construction.

He holds a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts from the University of Western Australia and a Graduate Diploma in Applied Economics from Murdoch University.

Lina Sandberg

Lina Sandberg

Head of Quality

Lina has over ten years’ experience in the biotechnology and Good Manufacturing Practice. Before joining Little Green Pharma, Lina worked in the regenerative medicine field with medical device and cellular therapies. She adds strong knowledge about quality management to the Little Green Pharma team.

Lina has a Master of Biomedical Science from Lund University, Sweden, and is currently undertaking post-graduate studies in Good Manufacturing Practice.

Barb Fullerton

Barb has over eleven years' experience in the pharmaceutical industry in both marketing and sales management roles with two global leaders and across a number of different disease states. She has spent the last three years widening her breadth of knowledge and experience working in technology start-ups. Barb has a Bachelor of Science degree and also has an MBA (Marketing Major) from Curtin Graduate School of Business.

Celia has over fifteen years' experience in marketing management, two of these working in pharmaceutical, six in media and four years in primary healthcare. Before starting at Little Green Pharma she worked at Seven West Media focusing on digital marketing and holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing).

Holly Birch

Head of People & Systems

Holly brings broad commercial experience to Little Green Pharma, with a speciality in people and systems. Previously a Client Director at Vantage Performance, Holly worked in partnership with executive teams and managers to implement strategy and transform and improve company performance through people and process-led initiatives. Prior to that, Holly held roles in account management and business development at Optus. Holly is a Certified Coach with the International Coaching Federation, and a Print Certified Coach. Holly holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom.

Leon Warne

Dr Leon Warne

Head of Research & Innovation

Leon is a researcher and academic with over 10 years’ experience in the field of pain medicine. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science, a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine and a PhD in pain-management and assessment.

Leon leads a translational researcher group investigating a novel genetic treatment for people suffering chronic neuropathic pain. His passion for research and development focused on providing integrative medical solutions to improve patient quality of life led Leon to his current role as Head of Research and Innovation at Little Green Pharma. His clinical research interests are assessment and management of pain in patients incapable of self-reporting; and utilisation of novel drug delivery technologies to optimise bioavailability and dosing efficacy of medicinal cannabis therapeutics.
